May Crowning

Dear Parishioners,
This weekend, we celebrate Mary's May crowning. May Crowning is a ritual in which an image or statue of Mary is crowned with a wreath of flowers and honored as the Queen of Heaven and the Mother of God. Honestly, this is not just something from our childhood or a parish tradition — it is a theological act, a prayer in itself. To crown Mary is to acknowledge what the Church has always believed: that she who said yes to God deserves our highest honor — not as an equal to God, but as the greatest of His creatures, the first of His disciples, our Mother. It is a joy to have our first Holy Communion join in this mass to crown Mary as their mother, who leads them to her Son.
We are also celebrating our Baccalaureate Mass for our high school seniors. This Mass features prayers and blessings specifically for the graduates as they prepare to transition into the next phase of their lives. Congratulations to all of our seniors! We are so proud of you all and will continue to pray for you as you transition to the next stage of life.
As we enter the month of May, we will have an opportunity to celebrate Masses for the Dead at our local cemeteries of Holy Rosary and St. Mary. As I will be gone on Memorial Day for the Mission trip to Gallup, New Mexico, cemetery Masses will be on two different Saturdays. Please take note of these dates if you would like to join us. May we continue to pray for the repose of the souls of our faithful departed.
9:00 am May 16th at St. Mary Cemetery
9:00 am May 23rd at Holy Rosary Cemetery
In Christ,
Fr. Luke Fleck
