Half Way There!

We have now come to the half-way point of our Advent journey in anticipating Christ’s birth!  This Sunday we celebrating Gaudete Sunday, or Rejoicing Sunday.  It is a time of joyfully recognizing that we are halfway through our preparation of our hearts and lives to be a welcome place to invite the Holy Family. 

When I was living at home my parents would take the opportunity during this third week of Advent to take us to the large penance service at St. Joseph’s parish in Lincoln.  It was interesting to see so many people gathered at the parish to take advantage of the sacrament of Confession.  They even had about 15 priests hearing confession for about 2-3 hours!  It was a beautiful evening that gave us some time to intentionally spend time with our Blessed Lord.

This Sunday at 4:00pm - 5:00pm at St. Joseph we will have a penance service with Fr. Mills and myself available for confessions.  There will also be penance services going on around the deanery throughout the day, so I invite you to consider taking advantage of the opportunity for Confession and to spend time with our Blessed Lord.  A Blessed Gaudete Sunday to you all!
