Adoration is a gift

Dear Parishioners,

A quick reminder that this Friday is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a holy day of obligation.  Please see the front of the bulletin for Mass times!  Now for this reflection, we have a special word from our parishioners!

We have been greatly blessed to have Adoration!  It was a great joy to join the parish here and see that we had Adoration every Wednesday from 7:30am - 1:00pm.  The gift to have Christ exposed to our community provides a wealth of graces that are truly immensurable!  One parishioner had this to say about her time in Adoration.

"When I began my commitment to weekly adoration, I wasn’t sure if I could keep it up. With the busyness of work, home life, kids, school activities, and helping run our family business, I wondered—do I really have time to add one more thing to my week?  Most days I rush from task to task, only to collapse into bed at night, struggling to stay awake during my evening prayers. But I had a desire to be more intentional—to give a part of my day to Jesus.  Adoration has given me that opportunity. It’s my one-on-one time with Him in the Blessed Sacrament. I now look forward to my Wednesday hour every week. It has truly changed my life. I’ve found ways to slow down each day, even briefly, and offer that time to Him."

Julie Welsh, wife and mother

Our local Catholic High School, Bishop Neumann, also provides time for adoration during the school year.  While on the mission trip I witnessed our teens and chaperones enter into Eucharistic adoration with joy.  They had just come out of long days of volunteer work and now ended the day in the peace of God's loving presence.  One of our teens had this to say about the mission trip.

"The first time I heard of the mission trip [to Gallup, New Mexico] was when my 2 older brothers were going and I thought it sounded like a blast. And it was and everything more. Every time I go, I find such a sense of peace and I grow closer to God. It’s always so different and fun and meeting new people from the kids at the kid camp to the men and women at the soup kitchen. Everything is so eye-opening and I’m in awe every time I get home from the mission trip. Helping others is such a wonderful way to grow closer to God especially when you have a great group of students and chaperones with you."

Julia Vrana, Senior at Bishop Neumann

May God continue to bless you all in the peace of Christ that defies all explanation! Fr. Luke Fleck
