A message from Fr. Fleck

ree

It is with great gratitude to God and our Lady of Guadalupe that Nebraskans rejected initiative 439, which would have expanded abortion virtually up to birth, as well as removed all commonsense laws to safeguard woman and chil-dren. With initiative 434 now on the constitution of Nebraska, the legislature now has the means of continuing to adapt measures that would reduce the number of abortions in the State of Nebraska. Unfortunately, the repeal of Initiative 435 revokes the ability of the State of Nebraska to give direct aid to needy families to attend the school of their choice. However, I have great hope that our Legislature will continue to revise and push forward with legislation to help our families, who desire to send their children to a school of their choice. In the meantime, the State pushed to get scholarships into the hands of families before the November vote and as a result several of our families in Saunders County received aid to attend their preferred school, this includes Bishop Neumann! I would invite you all to join in celebrating with our parish on this momentous event. So many individuals in our parish and community worked very hard to share information about the initiatives. I would like to thank them from the bottom of my heart for being a voice for the voiceless.

I also have good news! Each year a parish celebrates the day of the dedication of their Church, and I am happy to announce that our dedi-cation took place on November 19th, 1919. We will be celebrating 105 years since our dedication! The day of dedication is a Solemnity in the parish and is celebrated with great joy In order for many of our parishioners to participate in this joyous event, We will have a cele-bration that evening at 5:30pm, Nov. 17th for our dedication and the protection of mothers and babies. The parish will provide Hot Dogs and Chips for the occasion and will be potluck. Please come with your families and celebrate with us!

St. Mary's is in June, and I am working on what day it was dedicated.
